About Us…

Who we are

NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue Inc. was founded in 1995 by a group of individuals interested in the welfare of the Collie breed. A major portion of those charter members also belong to local Collie clubs, obedience clubs, as well as having affiliations with other rescue organizations and local animal shelters.

What We Do

NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue Inc. is dedicated to:
providing an alternative to those Collies in the northeast Ohio area who have been abandoned, abused, or given up by their owner,
providing medical care, rehabilitation, and locating permanent new homes for these dogs,
providing assistance to families experiencing difficulties with their Collie in an effort to prevent the need for rescue of the dog, and
providing for continued public education about the care and needs of our dogs, whether they are companions, working partners, or assistants in our daily lives.

Why We Do It

“We are alone, absolutely alone on this chance planet; and amid all the forms of life that surround us,
not one, excepting the dog, has made an alliance with us.”

Maurice Maeterlinck

As owners, breeders, and trainers, we feel an obligation to insure the welfare of those breeds, which have played such an important role in our lives. Dogs are nearly unique in their attitude towards their human companions. They don’t just hang around for the food, they BOND, become a part of the family, in many cases, willing to sacrifice their safety to protect ours. There comes into play an implied understanding between dog and owner, a mutual trust that is all too often betrayed in today’s fast paced, throw away society. When this trust is broken it is always the dog that suffers, either abuse, neglect, or outright abandonment. It is both the desire and the goal of Northeast Ohio Collie Rescue Inc. to restore the dog’s confidence and trust in order to restore its role as a valuable member of the family. It is our firm belief that the obligation to the dog is one of a lifetime and not one of convenience.
